POSITION SUMMARY:
As a leader in dairy logistics, Idaho Milk Products manages all milk hauling and logistical operations in-house. Our Milk Logistics team consists of approximately 40 dedicated professionals who ensure the efficient planning and execution of all milk hauling activities. The Logistics Supervisor plays a key role in providing daily oversight, serving as the first point of contact, and ensuring USDA and DOT compliance. This position leads staff in delivering exceptional customer service and achieving departmental objectives.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Supervisor assists with planning, network development, and optimization of routes and equipment. This leadership role requires high levels of collaboration with Dairies, Warehousing, and Operations, and involves both independent and team-based decision-making to advance our mission, values, and strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all driver functions for assigned day and night shifts.
- Coordinate work schedules, vacation, and leave requests for drivers.
- Serve as the primary shift contact for Farm Liaison, Sustainability Coordinator, and Processing Plant staff.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Report systematically to the Logistics Manager on performance metrics (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Complete driver reviews and report development needs to the Logistics Manager.
- Conduct annual evaluations of drivers on shift.
- Collect milk from specified dairies and deliver to the main facility.
- Represent Idaho Milk Products as a role model ambassador in the field.
- Foster a team-oriented and efficient staff environment.
- Encourage employee involvement and innovative ideas for process improvement.
- Lead shift pass-down meetings to communicate progress, share objectives, and solicit feedback.
- Provide training materials and resources to support employee development.
- Manage a crew of 20 team members.
POSITION SPECIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience (milk hauling environment preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant transportation experience (milk hauling preferred).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and USDA compliance requirements.
- General understanding of dairy production and processing operations.
- Familiarity with hauling best practices and shipping standards.
- Experience with quality improvement tools and processes.
- Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsements and Bulk Haulers License.
- Valid DOT Medical Card and clean driving record.
- Proven commitment to safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn proprietary systems.
- Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to complete assignments on time.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
