POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing the organization’s procurement strategy. The Director will lead cross-functional initiatives, manage strategic vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement across procurement operations. The Director will lead and manage all procurement-related activities with integrity and accuracy and develop and guide team members to achieve goals. Initially, a substantial focus will be on developing a strategic supply base covering ingredients and packaging for the new ice cream and blending business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
• Lead and mentor the Procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to forecast procurement needs and budget planning.
  
  

Operational Oversight

• Ensure efficient procurement processes, compliance with policies, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee contract negotiations, supplier selection, and performance evaluations.
• Monitor procurement KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure procurement records are accurate and up to date, including contracts and supplier performance metrics.
  
  

Strategic Sourcing

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the organization's procurement needs are met in a cost-effective, timely manner, initially focusing on ice cream and blending procurement needs.
• Develop market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and category management strategies.
  
  

Risk Management & Compliance

• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, legal standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
  
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, and other departments to align procurement activities with business needs.
• Lead procurement-related change management and system implementations.
  
  

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, including leadership roles.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract law, and supplier management.
• Relevant experience in food ingredient sourcing, including dairy, packaging, and strategic vendor management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Oracle) and procurement analytics.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Subject to up to at least 92db’s.
• Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis.
• Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction.
• Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally.
• Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities that must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
