Position Summary
The Filer-Fitter assists in the maintenance and repair of all saws, knives and guides used in mill operations.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment
- Train with Filer-Benchman to learn saw fitting techniques
- Train to tip and grind all saws
- Train to weld or replace tips and sharpen saws
- Learn to operate all filing room equipment
- Maintain grinding equipment and ensure proper settings of filing equipment
- Pour babbitt for guides and cut to proper size
- Maintain a production level work pace
- Keep work area clean at all times – cleanup during and after shift
- Specific job duties may vary by location
- Other duties as needed
- Ability to use and read precision measurement devices
- Self-motivated
- Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and understand printed materials
- Ability to adjust work schedule, perform shift work, work overtime as needed
- Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license.
- 1 year sawmill machine operator experience
