What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator 1 position at Idaho Forest Group/Mississippi?
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, forklifts, and skidders, to transport lumber and raw materials within the sawmill.
- Inspect machinery and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Communicate with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate tasks and prioritize work.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Adhere to production schedules and meet quality standards for lumber products.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment storage areas.
- Other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in a sawmill or lumber yard.
- Valid driver's license
Skills:
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
