Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Saint Alphonsus in Boise is looking for a Fire & Life Safety Technician to join our Engineering team in Boise. As a Fire & Life Safety Technician, you will perform and document all inspection and repair of the fire and life safety (FLS) systems at multiple locations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal requirements. You will complete proper maintenance and operation of fire/safety equipment such as but not limited to: fire extinguishers, alarm systems, fire hoses, sprinklers and elevator fire systems. Minimum Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum 4 years of experience in Fire & Life Safety Equipment/Systems maintenance and operations required. - Required extensive knowledge of plan operations and general maintenance. - Knowledge of the Idaho Fire Code and Idaho Building Code is required. - NICET Level III certification preferred. - Related trade school or manufacturers training preferred. Essential Functions: 1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. 2. Inspects and tests fire protection and/or detection systems to verify that such systems are installed in accordance with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations and standards. 3. Troubleshoots and/or arranges for the repair or replacement of defective fire/safety equipment and elevators. 4. Assists in inspecting all applicable facilities for compliance with pertinent life/safety and fire-safety standards as mandated by federal, state and local ordinances. 5. Responds to all mechanical, electrical and structural systems emergencies to assess fire/safety or life-safety threats. 6. Replaces faulty smoke detectors and reports any problems to appropriate personnel. 7. Conducts & documents the monthly inspection of fire extinguishers. 8. Assists with the preparation and issuance of hot/burn permits. 9. Disables and re-enables fire panels as directed by supervisor. 10. Frequently travel between applicable facilities in/around the Boise area to perform required maintenance/testing/repair of life safety and fire systems/equipment. 11. Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals and troubleshooting guides for applicable systems and/or equipment. 12. Able to read blueprints, specifications, submittal data and O&M data relevant to maintenance operations including electrical/mechanical schematics and diagrams. 13. Must have active driving privileges. If, during the course of employment, driving privileges change or colleague receives a driving citation, the colleague is required to notify their supervisor and/or HR.
