Location: Icy Strait Point – Hoonah, Alaska Type: Full-Time | Year-Round Pay: 80,000-100,000 DOE Housing Options Available
Are you a skilled mechanic with leadership experience? Ready to spend your season working in one of Alaska’s most breathtaking locations? Icy Strait Point is seeking a Lead Mechanic / Service Manager to oversee and perform maintenance on our fleet of vehicles and equipment while leading a small team of mechanics.
What You’ll Do:
· Lead daily operations of the mechanic team
· Perform hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance
· Maintain service schedules and ensure all vehicles meet DOT and internal safety standards
· Support transportation and operations teams with quick response to mechanical issues
· Keep maintenance logs, manage inventory, and coordinate with vendors
What You’ll Bring:
· 5 years of mechanical experience (diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, electrical, etc.)
· 2 years in a lead or supervisory role
· Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
· Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
· Ability to work in a dynamic, outdoor environment
