PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of this job is to support Underwriters within the Service Center of Excellence through advanced account management, policy processing, and policy issuance activities. This role supports process improvement efforts, and contributes to team development through guidance, auditing, and training support. This position serves as a subject matter resource for underwriting support functions, provides exceptional customer service, and ensures Workers' Compensation and Commercial Lines policies are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company guidelines.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supports Underwriters through advanced account management and policy processing activities.
Serves as a mentor/leader to Underwriting Technicians and Underwriting Assistants.
This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of underwriting support, insurance operations, agency, brokerage, or carrier experience required.
Four Or More Years Of Insurance Industry Experience Preferred.
Experience supporting Commercial Lines and/or Workers' Compensation business preferred, including exposure to Property, General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Workers' Compensation coverages.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required. Associate in insurance (AINS), Associate in Underwriting (AU), or other relevant insurance designation preferred.
Knowledge And Skills
Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supports Underwriters through advanced account management and policy processing activities.
- Issues new business, renewal, endorsement, cancellation, reinstatement, and policy change transactions within company guidelines.
- Processes monetary and non-monetary endorsements in accordance with underwriting authority and established procedures.
- Handles complex mid-term account management activities.Gathers and validates information for new business and renewal quoting.Ensures accuracy, organization, and maintenance of electronic policy files.Reviews policy transactions for accuracy and completeness prior to issuance.
- Assists producers via email and phone calls and works to strengthen our agency relationships.
Serves as a mentor/leader to Underwriting Technicians and Underwriting Assistants.
- Identifies workflow issues and recommends changes for process improvement.
- Provides guidance and training on policy processing, policy issuance, and underwriting support procedures.
- Performs quality audits on underwriting support work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to established guidelines.
- Trains co-workers on computer systems and department procedures. Assists with onboarding and training of new and existing team members, including cross-training and reinforcement of best practices.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for underwriting support operations.
This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
