Position Summary
The Engineering Test Technician is responsible for supporting the testing, validation, and troubleshooting of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality and reliability through the use of advanced test equipment, inspection systems, and diagnostic tools. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience in electronics testing, is detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional and diagnostic testing of PCBAs using established test procedures
- Operate and support Flying Probe testing systems for validation and fault isolation
- Develop, modify, and maintain AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) programs
- Interpret and analyze CAD data, schematics, and assembly drawings for troubleshooting and test setup
- Conduct basic electrical testing using multimeters and other diagnostic tools to identify and resolve defects
- Troubleshoot and repair PCBAs to component level as needed
- Support RF testing processes and ensure compliance with product specifications
- Document test results, failures, and corrective actions clearly and accurately
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve technical issues
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to testing processes and yield improvement
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or test environment
- Strong experience with:
- PCBA testing and troubleshooting
- Flying Probe systems
- AOI programming and optimization
- Ability to read and interpret:
- CAD data
- Schematics
- Technical drawings
- Hands-on experience with basic electrical test equipment (multimeters, etc.)
- Strong familiarity with RF manufacturing and testing is required
- IPC-A-610 Certification (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/production floor environment
- May require standing for extended periods
- Occasional lifting of equipment or materials
