R&D TAX CREDIT ASSOCIATE

Role Summary
This is a full‑time role primarily focused on R&D Tax Credit consulting. You will work with experienced consultants to identify, document, and quantify qualified research activities and expenditures under IRC Sections 41 and 174. The Associate gathers and analyzes technical and financial data, performs client interviews, prepares workpapers and reports, and supports credit calculations and deliverables. You may also gain exposure to additional ICS services such as 45X Tax Credits, Utility Studies, Cost Segregation, Energy Efficiency Incentives (179D/45L), and Comprehensive Fixed Asset Reviews, based on business need and your interests.
What You Will Do
- Research client activities to determine eligibility for R&D tax credits
- Collect and analyze project, time, and cost data to support credit calculations
- Conduct and document interviews with engineering, product, operations, and finance personnel
- Prepare clear, organized workpapers and draft technical narratives
- Ensure compliance with IRS and state-specific guidelines for R&D tax credit claims
- Maintain project timelines, communicate status, and support quality control
- Collaborate with senior team members to identify value-add tax opportunities for clients
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or finance strongly preferred.
- 1 to 4 years of experience in public accounting or tax consulting
- Working knowledge of basic federal income tax concepts and interest in Sections 41 and 174
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret large datasets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation of interviews and findings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. PowerPoint familiarity helpful
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment
- Professionalism, client service mindset, and willingness to learn
Nice To Have
- R&D tax credit exposure in public accounting, tax, or consulting.
- Internship or experience in audit, or corporate finance
- Experience with R&D Tax Credit software
- Progress toward CPA
- Familiarity with cost segregation, fixed asset analysis
