Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Horizon saddle stitching equipment according to job specifications.
- Perform make-readies, including loading signatures, setting pockets, adjusting feeders, stitcher heads, and trimmer settings.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure accurate gathering, stitching, folding, and trimming.
- Perform quality checks throughout production to ensure finished products meet specifications.
- Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain product quality and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical and production issues.
- Monitor production speeds, waste, and machine performance.
- Complete job tickets, production paperwork, and quality documentation accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and production procedures.
- Communicate equipment issues, material shortages, and production concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist with other bindery operations and production duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating a Horizon Saddle Stitcher strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of saddle stitching, gathering, folding, stitching, and three-knife trimming processes.
- Ability to read and follow job tickets and production specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to perform routine machine maintenance and adjustments.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials as required.
Preferred Experience:
- Commercial printing, bindery, or direct mail experience.
- Experience operating Horizon SPF, StitchLiner, or similar equipment.
- Experience performing machine make-readies and changeovers.
- Experience troubleshooting feeder, gathering, stitching, and trimming issues.
