What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant position at ICON?
ICON Government and Public Health Solutions (IGP) is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team to support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
What you will be doing:
Receive samples from accessioning. Segregate and distribute samples to the lab.- Assists with set up and management of samples for analysis.
- Monitor and print pending lists.
- Retrieve samples for add on testing.
- Locate misplaced samples.
- Retrieve/return samples from long-term storage for testing per lab request.
- Collate and transfer samples for long term storage.
- Specimen storage, rotation and disposal.
- Distribute all samples.
- Assists with maintaining quality control.
- Inventory logs.
- Performs other relevant tasks as requested.
- Participates in required Continuous Professional Education Programs, including conferences, internal journal club and lectures, as required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with good organization skills and good attention to detail.
- Ability to work in conformance with standard operating procedure and conditions with a systematic approach to tasks committed to seeing things through to completion To be able to prepare reagents accurately and consistently.
- Action oriented demonstrating the ability to handle large work load demands and to trouble shoot issues timely when required.
- Customer Focused –providing timely, confident, reliable and friendly service to all our internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GCP/GLP/GDP.
- Good communication skills that allow for confident interaction with all levels in the organization.
- Demonstrates a high level of personal integrity and ethical behavior with a responsible and mature approach to work duties.
You are:
2 year Degree/Associate Degree- 0-3 years experience
- Must be a US Citizen
- Ability to obtain a Level 5: Public Trust
- Location: Rockville, MD
