About the Role
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal products with precision and attention to detail. Your expertise in gas welding will enable you to produce high-quality results that meet our customers' expectations.
This role requires strong analytical skills, as you will need to interpret fabrication prints and product specifications to determine the sequence and methods of fabricating, welding, or assembling structural steel products.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication prints or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, welding, or assembling structural steel products.
- Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
- Select torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
- Connect regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders and welding torch.
- Turn regulator valves to activate flow of gases, light torch, and adjust gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
- Hold torch at proper angle to metal and guide along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld.
You will also be responsible for examining welds for bead size and other specifications, repairing broken or cracked metal objects, filling holes, and building up metal parts.
