We re hiring a first-hire AI/ML Engineer for a legal tech company based in Washington, DC (hybrid). This is a hands-on role building intelligent systems that process large volumes of legal and government documents - from scanned PDFs to handwritten records.
This role is about autonomy, ownership, and production-level delivery. You ll be building the data science function from the ground up.
What you ll be working on:
- Designing and deploying OCR pipelines to handle unstructured and degraded data
- Automating redaction of sensitive information (PII, PHI, classified content)
- Building LLM-based summarization and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Leading end-to-end ML workflows: from preprocessing to deployment
We re looking for someone who:
- Has 2 years in ML/NLP with experience in OCR or document parsing
- Is fluent in Python and frameworks like PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, etc.
- Has experience with unstructured data and production-grade deployments
- Can lead independently, without waiting to be told what to build
