Job Scope
The Material Handler, Shipping and Receiving role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping materials and supplies. This position verifies shipments for accuracy and quality, maintains organized inventory, prepares materials for distribution, and operates material-handling equipment as needed. The role is essential to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient flow of materials throughout the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming shipments.
- Load outgoing shipments
- Verify received quantities against packing slips.
- Inspect shipments for visible damage or discrepancies.
- Report shortages, overages, damaged materials, or incorrect items.
- Label and identify received materials as required.
- Move materials to appropriate locations.
- Maintain organized shipping, receiving, staging, and storage areas.
- Communicate receiving issues to appropriate personnel.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as required.
- Follow established inventory-control procedures.
- Weight counting
- Support material transfers between locations and ensure transactions are completed accurately.
- Maintain accurate paperwork
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with general production and inventory activities as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED credentials is required
- 6 months – 1 year of direct experience operating a forklift in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics, is required.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is highly desired
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is highly desired
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, is highly desired
- Basic reading and communication skills in English is required
- Basic math skills and the ability to count is required
- Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little direction
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability

- 8-hour, onsite schedule. Remote work is not available
