The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s database systems, with a primary focus on SQL Server environments. The DBA ensures data integrity, security, and availability, supporting business operations and compliance requirements. Experience with Oracle databases is highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud-based).
- Monitor database performance, tune queries, and optimize indexes for maximum efficiency.
- Implement and maintain database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and data integrity problems.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments, query optimization, and upgrades.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, or similar).
- Assist with Oracle database administration as needed (installation, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting).
- Familiarity with storage arrays and their use in managing, backing up and refreshing workloads.
- Document database environments, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience administering SQL Server databases in a production environment.
- Experience with Oracle database administration is a plus.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and database performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is preferred.
- Understanding database security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On, clustering, and replication).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate) are desirable.
