As the Assistant Vice President of Finance, you will lead the strategic acquisition of assets across the organization, including loan participations and derivative instruments, while directing the end-to-end loan syndication process. This role is responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, assessing risk–return profiles, and executing transactions that align with the organization’s financial objectives.

Key responsibilities include sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities, conducting comprehensive financial analysis, negotiating transaction terms, and managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful execution, ongoing management, and performance of acquired assets and syndicated loans.

The role requires a strong understanding of financial markets, credit risk, and structured transactions, along with advanced analytical capabilities and sound judgment. Success in this position demands exceptional negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and evolving financial environment.

 

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive asset acquisition and syndication strategy aligned with the company's objectives and growth plans.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential investment opportunities, including loan participations and derivatives.
  • Collaborate with executive management to define acquisition and syndication criteria and target assets.
  • Deal Sourcing and Evaluation:
  • Proactively source potential asset acquisition and syndication opportunities through various channels, such as industry connections, market research, and partnerships.
  • Evaluate investment prospects, including loan participations and derivatives, by conducting thorough due diligence, financial analysis, risk assessment, and market forecasting.
  • Prepare business cases, financial models, and investment proposals to support decision-making processes.
  • Negotiation and Transaction Management:
  • Lead negotiations with sellers, lenders, investors, and other relevant parties to secure favorable acquisition and syndication terms.
  • Structure and finalize acquisition and syndication agreements, including loan participation agreements, derivatives contracts, and other legal documentation.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, and other teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions and compliance with regulations.

Loan Syndication:

  • Manage the loan syndication process, including identifying potential syndicate partners, structuring syndication deals, and negotiating terms.
  • Collaborate with internal credit and underwriting teams to ensure compliance with lending policies, risk management guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lenders, institutional investors, and other potential syndicate partners.

Collaboration and Integration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and legal, to facilitate seamless integration of acquired assets and syndicated loans.
  • Develop and implement integration plans to maximize value and synergies from acquired assets and syndicated loans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of acquired assets and syndicated loans and identify opportunities for improvement or optimization.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including sellers, lenders, syndicate partners, brokers, industry experts, and investors.
  • Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance the organization's reputation and identify potential opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field (MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred).
  • 10 years of related experience
  • Proven experience in asset acquisition, loan participations, derivatives, loan syndication, or investment banking, with a track record of successful transactions.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, with the ability to assess investment opportunities, evaluate loan participations and derivatives, and conduct due diligence effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation and deal-making abilities, with a focus on achieving favorable terms and driving value in asset acquisition and syndication transactions.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in financial markets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.

 

Performance Standards: 

Ability to take decisive actions as needed while exercising patience with employees and members. Professional in attitude, appearance, and verbal communications. Ability to make sound decisions. Must be willing to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by ICCU. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.). 
  • Sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Lift 20-40 pounds of applicable supplies including but not limited to copy paper, cash drawers, marketing material, etc. 
  • Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers. 
  • Reach keyboards. 
  • Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
