Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) at iCare Health Services LLC plays a key role in supporting the integrated
healthcare team by performing clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient, compassionate, and highquality patient care.
The MA works closely with medical providers, licensed counselors, nurses, and behavioral health professionals
to assist with patient intake, vital signs, medical documentation, coordination of care, and clinical procedures.
The MA also ensures compliance with AHCCCS, ADHS, OSHA, HIPAA, and iCare Health Services policies to
maintain a safe and professional outpatient environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Patient Care and Clinical Support
• Greet and escort patients to exam or consultation rooms while ensuring comfort and privacy.
• Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, BMI, and medical history in the Electronic Health
Record (EHR).
• Prepare patients for examinations, minor procedures, or therapy sessions as directed by a provider.
• Assist medical providers during physical exams, medication administration, or diagnostic testing.
• Perform venipuncture, injections, urine collection, and other specimen collection as ordered.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (POCT) such as glucose, A1C, urinalysis, or rapid screening tests.
• Ensure exam rooms are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stocked between each patient visit.
2. Documentation and Recordkeeping
• Accurately document all patient encounters, vital signs, treatments, and test results in the EHR.
• Review and update patient information such as allergies, medication lists, and immunizations.
• Maintain and file medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA confidentiality standards.
• Ensure provider orders, lab results, and follow-up actions are entered and completed accurately.
• Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and chart audits as needed.
3. Coordination of Care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—including counselors, behavioral health technicians, and
case managers—to coordinate integrated care.
• Schedule and confirm follow-up visits, lab tests, or specialist referrals.
• Provide patient education on medications, procedures, and preventive health as directed by the provider.
• Facilitate communication between medical providers and behavioral health staff to support wholeperson care.
• Follow up with patients after visits or discharge to ensure compliance with treatment and medication
plans.
4. Safety and Compliance
• Follow all infection control, OSHA, and ADHS safety standards within the clinic environment.
• Maintain proper labeling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous waste and medical supplies.
• Ensure equipment calibration and routine maintenance are completed on schedule.
• Participate in emergency preparedness drills and safety training.
• Report any patient safety concerns or incidents promptly to the Clinic Manager.
5. Administrative Support
• Assist with patient check-in and check-out, verifying insurance information and consent forms.
• Support the front office team by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying eligibility.
• Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies; prepare purchase requests when necessary.
• Assist with tracking and reporting quality assurance data, such as immunization compliance or chronic
condition follow-up.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an outpatient, primary care, or integrated behavioral health setting
preferred.
• Familiarity with AHCCCS, ADHS, and integrated care workflows strongly preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Kipu, BestNotes, NextGen, AthenaHealth, or similar).
Certification/Licensure:
• Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA) required or
obtainable within 90 days of hire.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (required).
• Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required.
• Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and clear background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic clinical procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced outpatient environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
• Compassionate, patient-centered, and committed to confidentiality and professionalism.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and integrated behavioral health practices a plus.
Work Schedule and Compensation
• Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time.
• Work Hours: Typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (some flexibility for evening or weekend
shifts).
• Compensation: $18 - $20 (Based on experience and certification).

Physical and Environmental Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during the workday.
