Job Summary:
The Group Home Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the
assigned group home(s) that provides care and support for individuals with mental, behavioral and
developmental disabilities. This role involves ensuring that residents receive high-quality care in a
safe, supportive, and person-centered environment. The Group Home Manager will supervise a
team of direct support professionals (DSPs), ensure compliance with state and federal regulations,
and maintain communication with families, case managers, and external service providers. The
Group Home Manager plays a crucial role in fostering an environment that promotes the
independence, dignity, and well-being of residents, while also managing the administrative,
financial, and operational aspects of the home.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Resident Care and Support:
• Oversee the daily care and well-being of residents, ensuring that their personal,
• emotional, and medical needs are met.
• Develop, implement, and review Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) for each
• resident, ensuring that goals are aligned with person-centered planning.
• Coordinate medical appointments, medication administration, and healthcare
• services for residents, in collaboration with healthcare providers and families.
• Foster a supportive and respectful environment that encourages independence and
• community involvement for all residents.
• Part of the staff to resident ratio, ensure consistency staff ratio for the home.
• Always ensure DSP coverage for the home and step in as a backup for DSP when
• needed.
2. Staff Management and Supervision:
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of Direct Support Professionals
• (DSPs), ensuring that staff are well-equipped to provide care and support to
• residents.
• Develop staff schedules and manage staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage
• for all shifts.
• Conduct regular staff meetings, provide ongoing supervision and support, and
• address performance issues as needed.
• Offer training opportunities for staff in areas such as medication administration,
• crisis intervention, and person-centered planning.
3. Program Management:
• Oversee the implementation of daily routines, activities, and programs that
• promote residents’ social, vocational, and life skills development.
• Plan and coordinate recreational and community-based activities, ensuring that
• residents have opportunities to engage with the broader community.
• Maintain accurate documentation for each resident, including progress notes,
• incident reports, medical records, and daily logs.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
• Ensure the group home operates in compliance with all state and federal
• regulations, including those set by the Division of Developmental Disabilities
• (DDD) and Medicaid.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews of documentation, medication administration
• records, and safety protocols to ensure compliance and quality care.
• Implement health and safety protocols, including fire drills, emergency
• procedures, and regular safety inspections of the home.
• Address any incidents, emergencies, or issues that arise in the home, reporting
• them to the appropriate authorities and documenting them according to
• organizational policies.
5. Family and Community Engagement:
• Maintain open and regular communication with residents’ families and guardians,
• providing updates on their progress, activities, and any concerns.
• Act as a liaison between the group home and external stakeholders, such as case
• managers, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
• Facilitate family meetings, service plan reviews, and other discussions to ensure
• that families are actively involved in their loved ones’ care.
6. Financial and Resource Management:
• Manage the group home’s budget, ensuring that financial resources are used

organization’s policies.

9. Timecard and approval:
• Train staff in using the time clock system to submit their timecards accurately
• reflecting the hours worked during each pay period.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving each employee’s timecard within one
• business day after the submission deadline to ensure timely payroll processing.
• Must verify the accuracy of reported hours, ensuring they align with the
• program’s schedules and employee attendance.
