Job Summary
- The Vice President, Global Human Resources serves as a senior leader within the global HR function and a key partner to the SVP, Head of Global Human Resources. This role is responsible for developing and driving execution of ICANN’s global people strategy, ensuring alignment between organization priorities and HR delivery across regions and functions.
- Operating as the SVP’s principal deputy, the VP will integrate HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and HR Operations into a cohesive, high-performing function and act as a unifying leader across a globally distributed HR function. The role combines strategic leadership and organizational design with operational rigor, ensuring that HR enables organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and execution of ICANN’s mission.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. HR Function Integration & Execution
- Drive alignment across HRBPs, COEs, and HR Operations to ensure consistent global delivery
- Translate organizational priorities into clear HR execution plans
- Establish operating cadence (QBRs, dashboards, governance forums) across the HR function
- Ensure execution against agreed OKRs and strategic initiatives
2. Strategic Partner to the SVP, Global HR
- Serve as a thought partner on organizational design, talent strategy, and workforce planning
- Act as proxy for the SVP in internal and external forums as needed
- Support preparation for Executive Team and Board-level discussions
- Ensure alignment between HR strategy and ICANN’s broader organizational objectives
3. Leadership & Talent Management
- Ensure integration of global talent processes including:
- succession planning
- leadership development
- performance management
- Ensure consistent application of leadership standards across regions
- Partner with senior leaders to strengthen leadership capability in a multistakeholder environment
4. Organizational Effectiveness & Workforce Strategy
- Lead organization workforce planning and capacity alignment
- Support organizational design efforts tied to strategic priorities
- Identify and mitigate organizational health and workforce sustainability risks
- Ensure HR is proactively supporting execution of key initiatives
5. HR Operations & Service Delivery Excellence
- Ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality HR service delivery globally
- Drive process standardization and continuous improvement
- Oversee HR systems effectiveness and data integrity in partnership with People Analytics
- Ensure global consistency while serving regional requirements
6. Culture, Engagement & Values Alignment
- Reinforce ICANN’s values through HR programs and leadership behaviors
- Monitor organizational health and engagement trends
- Partner with leadership to address cultural or engagement gaps
7. Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure HR practices align with global regulatory requirements and organizational policies
- Support organization initiatives related to compliance (e.g., ISO readiness, training, awareness)
- Identify and mitigate people-related risks at the organizational/enterprise level
- Other duties as assigned or requested
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

- Demonstrated experience in building and leading integrated HR functions (HRBP COE Ops)
- Extensive experience in employee relations and consultation, training and development and performance management
- Effective skills as a coach and counselor to HR colleagues, senior leaders, managers and employees
- Ability to shift seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands-on operational work
- Demonstrated ability to interact with employees and leadership with professionalism, tact, and sensitivity as well a proven ability to influence senior leaders and operate at executive level
- Strong written and oral interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent knowledge of global HR concepts and best practices
- Strong background in organizational design, talent strategy, leadership development and workforce planning
- Experience operating in global or matrixed environments and highly regulated or governance-driven organizations (preferred)
Education and Experience Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, study in Human Resources, Business or a related field desired
Experience:
- 15 years of progressive HR leadership experience in global, complex and/or matrixed organizations
Languages
- Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required
- ICANN is a global organization that values diversity; preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated skills in additional languages besides English
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- International travel may be required to support ICANN related meetings as requested for lengths of 7-10 days for each trip, approximately three times per year, likely on different continents
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Ability to travel without restrictions globally, frequently with limited notice is required
- Comfort level with an international work environment that requires availability at times outside normal business hours
- Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee regularly is required to sit. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear; use hands and arms to reach, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Targeted Base Salary Low:
$220,000.00 20% Bonus Benefits
Targeted Base Salary High:
$300,000.00 20% Bonus Benefits
