Job Summary:

We are looking for a New gTLD Program Specialist to support critical projects related to the implementation and day-to-day operations of the new gTLD Program, including the 2026 Round. The New gTLD Program Specialist will support Program Leadership and project leads in the management, coordination, operations, and administration of the implementation of one or more New gTLD Program projects, as assigned. 

This position requires the ability to work in cross-functional project teams, strong research, organization and self-starter skills, and the ability to support driving successful outcomes, collaborating cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Project implementation & operations

  • Support the implementation and day-to-day operations of one or more New gTLD Program projects.
  • Coordinate key project elements, including issue resolution, analysis and decision support, implementation tracking, schedule management, and KPI reporting.
  • Deliver project outputs on schedule, prioritizing and escalating issues as needed.
  • Implement new procedures and related documentation across consultative processes.
  • Provide project support, collaborate with stakeholders on problem-solving and issue resolution.
  • Develop and manage written materials, including analysis and recommended solutions.

Research, analysis and strategic support

  • Conduct research and prepare background materials to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Assist in analysis of policy recommendations, advice, and public comments, and support the development of detailed implementation plans or operational adjustments in response. 
  • Support subject-matter experts and teams, anticipating developments and supporting executive management and strategic department discussions.

Communication & stakeholder engagement

  • Draft, edit, and coordinate written materials, including correspondence, project documentation, briefings, proposals, and talking points.
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external ICANN stakeholders, synthesizing complex information and coordinating inputs from multiple stakeholders.
  • Engage with the community through multistakeholder processes and facilitate internal and external discussions to drive informed decisions and collaboration.
  • Organize and facilitate cross-functional discussions, guiding groups to decisions or consensus on difficult or sensitive topics.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with project management and productivity tools (Smartsheets, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and present findings clearly.
  • Excellent communication skills, adapting style for different audiences, visibility levels, and cross-cultural contexts.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies and processes, and work across multiple time zones.
  • Understanding of political, societal, legal, and operational implications of complex issues.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an international organization or nonprofit environment, including academic, technical or business writing experience.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and synthesis.
  • Experience writing for diverse audiences and purposes (business correspondence, research reports, marketing content, process documentation, announcements, and/or blogs).
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas: Domain Name Industry, Technical Writing, Research, Data Analysis, Operations, Project Management, Product Management, Implementation Management, Finance, Vendor Management, and Legal.

 

 

Languages:

Fluent written and spoken English is required; at least one additional language at business competency level is strongly desired.

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including for ICANN-related meetings (approximately 3x/year, 7-10 days per trip).
  • Comfort working in an international environment across different time zones.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment and some exposure to background noise.
  • Location: ICANN office in Brussels (with flexibility to work from home)
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
