The BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute (BMEII) at the Icahn School of Medicine at

Mount Sinai is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join an NIH funded R01

study (1R01HL166720-01A1) investigating risk factors for malignant arrhythmias in mitral valve

prolapse.


This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced cardiac

imaging, data science, and clinical research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead imaging analysis and interpretation across multiple modalities including PET,

cardiac MRI, and echocardiography

• Integrate imaging and clinical datasets and contribute to the maintenance and

expansion of a centralized data repository

• Develop and maintain secure, HIPAA-compliant databases and provide data access to

researchers

• Process and analyze imaging data using both commercially available and proprietary

image registration and analysis software

• Collaborate with clinical and research teams on data acquisition, processing workflows,

and analytical strategies

• Contribute to the writing, editing, and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, and

scientific papers

• Assist in the preparation of conference presentations, grant applications, and progress

reports

• Participate in journal clubs, internal seminars, and mentoring activities within the

institute.



Qualifications:

• MD or MD/PhD with training/interest in cardiovascular disease or Ph.D. in biomedical

engineering, imaging sciences, computer science, biomedical physics, or a related

discipline

• Prior experience with cardiac imaging (MRI, echo ± PET)

• Strong analytical, programming, and scientific writing skills

• Familiarity with statistical and image analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, FSL, SPM, or

equivalent)

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment

Compensation

  • The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692 - $80,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
