What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Researcher position at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai?
We are seeking a motivated individual with entry-level laboratory experience to join the Laboratory for Precision Metabolomics and Exposomics (PRIME) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. You will play an integral role in our ongoing biomarker research and studies exploring environmental causes of disease, including cancer, women’s health, and others.
Responsibilities:
For your regular responsibilities, you will assist in preparing biological samples for chemical analysis and performing wet laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior lab staff. You will also perform science administration roles such as tracking samples through the computer (LIMS) system, helping with receiving and shipping samples, tracking laboratory inventory, and assisting in placing orders for supplies and equipment.
You will function as an essential part of advancing the research and service projects central to our laboratory’s mission. This position presents an ideal opportunity for a research associate with interests in chemistry and biology to gain hands-on experience with advanced instruments. We perform biomarker research and explore environmental causes of human disease using high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms.
Knowledge/Skills:
· At least a B.Sc. in metabolomics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or other environmental health-related field
· Hands-on analytical laboratory experience
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet project timelines.
The PRIME Lab (https://www.petrickexposomelab.com/) is part of the Department of Environmental Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Our laboratory is located overlooking Central Park in New York City, at the Icahn School of Medicine, and is affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System, the largest health care provider in New York.
Work-related experience will be considered in determining level and salary.
