Overview
The AVP, Construction will support the SVP of Real Estate and will have oversight responsibility for in-house and outsourced construction professionals in the planning and execution of site development/construction projects. The AVP, Construction will be charged with enhancing the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of construction work primarily related to existing sites as we work with outside resources, landlords, tenants and other stakeholders to modify and grow the footprint of the real estate portfolio. The AVP will be accountable for all project team members, plans, budgets, costs, management and quality of final deliverable. This role brings the opportunity to design multiple commercial spaces and provide best in class service to stakeholders to drive the desired business outcome.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing department P&L while leading team responsible for all aspects of development, design and construction.
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously, within budget, and to successful completion.
- Meet and collaborate with internal teams as needed (Operations, FF&E Procurement, Facilities, IT, Branding, etc.)
- Develop and manage overall function and per location CAPEX budget.
- Lead and direct the work of multiple construction project managers (both internal and external to the organization) and will be responsible for their effective performance, timeliness, and overall project outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required, Master’s Degree preferred
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of retail construction / project management / management oversight of internal or external construction teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly excel)
- Extensive experience and skill in reading design and construction drawings for all disciplines
- Experience and ability to develop budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and total cost analyses
- Proven experience and ability to carry out multiple de novo and renovation projects simultaneously across multiple markets
- Leads a fast past function to drive the business goals forward
- Excellent writing skills, leadership skills, and judgment
- Ability to drive strategic direction and make decisions
- Lead and direct the work of multiple exempt construction project managers.
