This is a contract position supporting NOAA's Office of Education (OEd) which provides advice and counsel to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere in matters pertaining to education. The office, in conjunction with the Education Council, coordinates educational activities across NOAA and develops NOAA's Education Strategic Plan and policy. These efforts help to ensure that NOAA's education programs and activities are based on NOAA science and support the agency's cross-cutting priority of promoting environmental literacy. The Office of Education directly implements and manages scholarship programs aimed at fostering American competitiveness in science by providing quality educational opportunities for the next generation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the student scholarship application, administrative review, and selection processes, including conducting administrative review of applications and reviewing/logging/filing appointment letters and accompanying documents.
- Track and monitor student progress in the student scholarship programs.
- Organize, update, and maintain electronic program files.
- Assist with the preparation of responses to request for information for review and approval by the Program Managers.
- Maintain, track, and field inquiries from the designated Scholarship phone line regarding NOAA student scholarship programs. Answer calls from mentors, scholars, internal and external inquiries for an estimated 30 -100 daily depending on program cycle
- Support the scholarship program staff during the student Orientation Program and the Science and Education Symposium. This includes organizing/assembling welcome packets, creating name badges, logging tour selections, chaperoning tours, performing registration and technical support, moderating presentations, setting up posters, reviewing/editing student manuals, and arranging mass printing.
- Assist with the planning, scheduling, organizing, and facilitation of Student Scholarship meetings.
- Participate in student recruitment activities and events.
- Conduct other education and outreach activities in support of the education and scholarship programs, as needed.
- Submit content for Office of Education social media and web presence.
- Work with NOAA Security Office to issue badges for 125-150 scholars annually. Review scholars' badging forms and identification for compliance, mail/receive fingerprint cards, and submit badging documentation. Draft and prepare correspondence for the Scholarships Program Managers' signature.
- Maintain a calendar of events, activities, and major deadlines for scholarship programs.
- Participate in professional development, as appropriate
- Executes all the above and is the lead for other scholarship support contractors
- Maintains time and attendance and leave calendar for scholarship support contractors
- Reviews scholarship support contractor's reports for accuracy
- Maintains internship and mentor spreadsheets for an estimated 125-150 scholars
- Assists Program Managers where needed and
- Fills in for Program Managers during vacation times, travel, etc.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
- Minimum 8 years of experience
