ABOUT IBERIA COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER:
Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including medical care. Our medical department provides a full array of medical care including, but not limited to women’s health exams, men’s health exams, diabetes care, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, chronic conditions, laboratory services, physical examinations, and referrals for specialty care.
ICCHC is currently seeking a full time Staff Physician for its Lafayette, Many, and New Iberia locations.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
This position works independently, performing medical care to our adult patient population. Responsible for the care of own patients, and reports to the Medical Director for consultation and administrative support. The normal work period consists of 80 hours/two weeks; sometimes more hours, sometimes less hours, or as needed to provide departmental coverage according to patient demand.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Staff Physician renders safe, quality care to patients. The Staff Physician prescribes medications, assists in supervision of medical support staff, and performs related duties. The Staff Physician has mastered the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. The Staff Physician is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability of the delivery and management of patient care. The Staff Physician assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and performs primary care services (ie. Minor surgery, Suturing, Fine Needle Aspirations, Review of x-rays, Casting/Splinting, General evaluations, General GYN Expertise, Emergency management skills - use of defibrillator on site, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION:
Staff Physician must be a graduate of an approved and accredited Medical School.
LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS AND/OR REGULATIONS.
Staff physician must be licensed to practice Medicine in the State of Louisiana, possess a Medical School diploma, Board Certification Notification and/or Board Eligible, and Federal and State DEA Certificates.
- TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Community health center and management experience is helpful.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Candidate should be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide primary care services to all patients.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work can be both mobile and sedentary. Must be able to bend, perform all procedures, and move about freely without limiting the ability to perform all duties allowed by delineation of privileges for nurse practitioners. Supervisory time may require reading or using a PC. Occasional local and national travels.
