We are looking for a Cashier to join our family-owned Italian grocery and help us process customer transactions. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

The Cashier contributes to the company’s operation and success by assisting customers and maintaining a clean and tidy checkout area while providing exceptional customer interaction. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong interpersonal skills, being proficient at basic math, and being trustworthy and transparent.

The Cashier’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Managing the register and handling cash, credit/debit, check, and gift card transactions with customers.
• Scanning goods and utilizing scale to weigh items and ensure prices are accurate.
• Processing coupons and applying discounts and promotions when applicable.
• Sorting and bagging goods so as not to contaminate other goods and ensure they are safe for transport.
• Following store procedures regarding purchase of specialty items such as alcohol and cigarettes.

• Counting and balancing money in cashier drawer before and after shift.
• Remaining courteous and helpful to all customers and resolving complaints in a pleasant manner.

• Reporting all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity (including theft or fraud) to management.
• Returning unwanted items to shelves.

The Cashier’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.

The ideal candidate for the Cashier position:

• Has previous experience in a retail grocery store or as a cashier.
• Must be available weekdays and weekends (if needed).
• Possesses basic math skills.
• Possesses strong customer service and communication skills.
• Is comfortable standing for long periods of time.
• Is punctual, reliable, and can adhere to a regularly assigned work schedule.
