What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scrum Master position at IAPP?
Job Summary
The Scrum Master supports the IAPP’s efforts to improve how teams work by implementing Agile practices, working to increase team efficiency, and providing motivation. This role is responsible for supporting, coaching and mentoring teams across the organization on agile principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with cross-functional teams to keep critical organizational projects and programs moving forward.
- Helps the team make progress by ensuring the team is working on the right tasks and removing blockers.
- Helps the Product Owner manage the scope and backlog.
- Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
- Facilitates and supports all program team events: identifying business need, Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of the adoption of Agile practices in the organization.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Architecture, Engineering and Data teams to deliver projects and programs.
- Contribute to the maturing of portfolio practices at the IAPP.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of development project experience on an Agile Team or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
- Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
- Experience working in an Agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban)
- Understanding of software development life cycle models
Desired Skills and Experience
- Practice with scaling frameworks and methodologies; experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Coach
- CSM certification
- Experience with Lean and process improvement
- Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
Work Environment
We have a hybrid work environment and are asking applicants to be within a commutable distance to our Portsmouth, NH office.
