What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Vehicle Dispatcher position at IAP Worldwide Services, Inc?
As the Motor Vehicle Dispatcher , you will dispatch drivers to multiple buildings and locations and be able to schedule inside of a Microsoft Office-based database.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight or passengers.
- Compiles list of available vehicles.
- Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.
- Issues keys, record sheets, and credential to drivers.
- Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
- Investigates overdue vehicles. May confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
- Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses and establishes service or delivery routes.
- Supervises loading and unloading and issues equipment to drivers, such as hand trucks, dollies, and blankets.
- Directs activities of drivers, using two-way radio and assigns helpers to drivers. Works at vehicle distribution center and assigns vehicles to customer agencies
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Possess all requisite state/federal driving licenses.
- Provide motor vehicle records for the last three years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with the Washington Metropolitan Area
- Two years of recent dispatch experience for a large organization
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proficient in MS Word MS Excel applications.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate on all levels in a professional manner.
