iAM MUSIC - Outreach Instructor
Job Title: Outreach & Lead Music Instructor – iAM MUSIC School Programs
Reports To: Co-Director
Status: Part-Time, Seasonal (August 17th 2026–May 21st 2027)
Monthly Salary $4,110.00
≈ 20 hours/week
Compensation: 9 month contract ($36,990) (August 2026 - May 2027) with option to disburse salary over 12 months.
Additional Hours: Any hours worked beyond the outlined scope will be compensated at the outreach rate of $55 per hour or $60 per hour for private lessons.
The Outreach & Lead Music Instructor (OLMI) is a key member of the iAM MUSIC education team, delivering high-quality, student-centered music instruction across several school and community-based programs. The role includes band coaching, individual and group lessons, music fundamentals, and seasonal intensives. The position follows a dynamic schedule aligned with school calendars and includes dedicated preparation and paid holiday hours.
• Outreach Teaching Hours: 348 hrs
• Paid Holidays: 30 hrs (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break)
• Total Paid Hours: 378 hrs
• Outreach Hourly Rate: $55 per hour = $20,790 or $2,310 per month
• 30 hrs of private lessons per month at $60 per hour X 9 months =$16,200 or $1,800 per month
• Annual Salary over 9 months = $4,110.00
• Annual Salary over 12 month = $3,082.00
Qualifications:- Demonstrated experience teaching music in school and/or community settings
- Proficiency in leading pop ensembles, songwriting, voice and music fundamentals
- Flexible, collaborative, and committed to youth-centered instruction
- Reliable transportation to multiple school sites in the Durango area
- Go beyond a teacher and lead as a mentor
- Be active in producing and performing your own music
- High level of music theory
- Have music proficiency on at least on of these instruments: Bass, guitar, drums, keyboard/ piano, vocals
- Have a strong secondary skill in: Bass, guitar, drums, keyboard/ piano, vocals, ukulele, music production, percussion
This is a part-time, seasonal contract position, with the option to have payment distributed evenly across 12 months. The Teaching Artist reports to the Co-Director and works in collaboration with other faculty and partner school staff.

- Three weeks paid vacation based on 9R School District’s calendar.
