Takeoff Engineer / CAD Engineer

Iafrate Construction is hiring a Takeoff Engineer / CAD Engineer to support our preconstruction and operations teams on heavy civil projects.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in AGTEK earthwork takeoffs, Civil 3D modeling/design, and preferably MicroStation for DOT or infrastructure-related work. The right candidate will help develop accurate quantities, review plans and specifications, build digital models, and support project teams with preconstruction deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using AGTEK
- Build and manage terrain models for excavation, grading, and site balancing
- Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to identify scope and risk
- Develop and modify drawings and models in Civil 3D
- Create/edit surfaces, alignments, corridors, profiles, grading features, and pipe networks
- Support utility, roadway, drainage, and sitework layouts
- Coordinate with estimators, PMs, superintendents, and field teams
- Identify discrepancies, conflicts, and missing design information
- Help maintain organized files, version control, and documentation standards
Required Qualifications
- Experience in heavy civil construction, sitework, roadway, utilities, grading, or concrete
- Proficiency in AGTEK (or willing to learn)
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (or willing to learn)
- Strong understanding of civil plans, profiles, cross sections, and specifications
- Ability to interpret grading, drainage, storm, sanitary, water main, and paving plans
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MicroStation
- Heavy civil estimating experience
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, or private development plan sets
- Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, Navisworks, InfraWorks, or Trimble Business Center
- Knowledge of GPS/machine control modeling
- Field experience is a plus
Preferred Experience
- 3 years in takeoff, CAD drafting/design, or civil preconstruction
- Experience with a heavy civil contractor, engineering firm, or infrastructure construction company
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, Drafting/Design, or related field preferred
