Job Summary: IACMI – The Composite Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support our Metallurgical Engineering and Trades Apprenticeship and Learning (METAL) workforce education and development program. In this role, you will assist in project management, track milestone timelines, prepare reports, and collaborate with education and industry partners to ensure program success. Your proactive approach, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in contributing to our mission of engaging, supporting, and elevating members of our community.
IACMI is headquartered in Knoxville, TN. This is a remote position requiring individuals to work independently and on a team in a virtual environment. This position, reporting to the Program Manager, requires travel with overnight stays approximately 40% of the time, including quarterly in-person meetings at our headquarters in Knoxville, TN.

Responsibilities:
- Support the METAL Program Manager in planning, scheduling, and tracking program activities and deliverables.
- Coordinate communication between IACMI, industry partners, educational institutions, and stakeholders.
- Maintain project documentation, reports, and records in accordance with program and funding requirements.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, and monitor follow-up actions.
- Assist in tracking metrics related to participation, progress, and outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of presentations and success stories to promote the METAL program.
- Manage updates to program materials, online platforms, and partner communication tools.
- Support event planning and coordination for workshops, site visits, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
- Collaborate with finance team on tracking budgets and invoices.
- Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the METAL program framework.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Represent IACMI at events to ensure participants have a positive experience.
- Initiate phone calls with team members, partners, and participants as appropriate.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the processes and procedures of the programs.
- Support workforce programs and events as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field (relevant experience considered).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with training, workforce development programs, or project management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a project team.
- Demonstrated planning, organizing, and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently in a hybrid environment and managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing, materials science, or engineering concepts is beneficial but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Monday.com, or other project management and collaboration tools.
- Valid US driver’s license required.
- Ability to move around freely, lift at least 25 lbs., and sit or stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time, with overnight stays.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
