Position Overview

IAC is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of complex electrical systems across a broad spectrum of industrial projects. This role plays a central part in engineering development, system integration, and project execution—supporting everything from electrical power distribution to advanced control systems for dust collection, bulk material handling, and environmental technologies.

As a senior engineer, you will take full ownership of electrical system design, installation design, and control system planning from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate dynamically across functional groups—including Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Drafting, Procurement, Fabrication, Controls, and Field Services—to transform customer requirements into practical, safe, code-compliant engineered solutions.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving sophisticated problems, mentoring others, and strengthening technical excellence across the organization. You’ll operate in a fast-paced environment with the freedom to apply engineering creativity while maintaining rigorous industry standards, safety requirements, and IAC quality expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

Engineering & Design Leadership

  • Complete electrical system design, including power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and installation details.
  • Design duct banks, embedded conduit, cable trays, grounding systems, and lighting systems from initial concept to final construction.
  • Develop and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), instrument lists, and I/O lists.
  • Develop and/or review electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • Create functional descriptions and control narratives for PLC programming.
  • Perform engineering calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray fill, and other NEC-compliant requirements.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Utilize applicable national and local electrical codes, including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and NFPA 79.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing technical leadership and cross-functional alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Management to maintain schedule adherence, resolve design challenges, and support project delivery.
  • Work with procurement to organize, review, and approve buyout components and electrical devices.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, customers, vendors, and suppliers to deliver technical guidance and support.

Documentation & Quality

  • Organize, develop, and maintain drawing packages and bills of materials.
  • Review and approve detailed electrical drawings prepared by Designers and Drafters.
  • Support and troubleshoot electrical design challenges throughout fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet IAC’s documentation, safety, and engineering quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design and/or industrial controls design.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and power distribution.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical required.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, 70E, and 79.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and PAC/PLC programming is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal, written, technical, conceptual, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
