Director of EPC Business Development

IAC
Overland Park, KS Full Time
POSTED ON 10/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/4/2027

Build the Relationships. Shape the Projects. Win the Work.

IAC is looking for an accomplished Director of EPC Business Development to help drive the next stage of growth across our industrial EPC and construction businesses.

We are not looking for someone to simply respond to RFPs or sell individual pieces of equipment.

We are looking for a proven industrial EPC business developer and relationship builder who knows how to get upstream of major capital projects—developing relationships with owners, understanding where capital is being deployed, identifying opportunities before they reach the open market, helping shape project strategy, and ultimately converting those relationships into profitable EPC backlog.

The right candidate understands how a complex heavy industrial project progresses from an idea on a customer’s capital plan through conceptual development, engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and startup. More importantly, this person has a demonstrated track record of personally originating and winning that work.

This role will represent the combined capabilities of IAC and Adelphi Construction LC—a vertically integrated industrial platform bringing together multidisciplinary engineering, proprietary process technologies, OEM equipment manufacturing, approximately 500,000 square feet of fabrication capacity, controls and automation, project management, and self-perform civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction.

That combination allows us to do something many competitors cannot: take responsibility for complex industrial projects from concept through commissioning—with critical engineering, equipment, fabrication, controls, and construction capabilities under one organization.

The Opportunity

IAC and Adelphi execute complex greenfield and brownfield projects across heavy industrial and process markets. Our work can range from specialized process and environmental systems to complete plant expansions and turnkey facilities.

Our capabilities include advanced thermal technologies such as Drop Tube Calciners (DTC), Supported Indirect Rotary Calciners (SIRC), Dryer One and rotary drying systems; large-scale air pollution control and baghouse systems; bulk material storage and handling; pneumatic conveying; process systems; controls and automation; and complete industrial construction.

Our project experience includes large EAF/steel melt-shop ventilation systems exceeding 3 million ACFM, 50,000-metric-ton bulk storage domes, fast-track greenfield industrial facilities, biochar/biomass and steam/power integration, major environmental upgrades, and complex projects requiring field organizations exceeding 250 personnel.

We operate in markets including cement and lime, steel, mining and minerals, chemicals, battery and advanced materials, biomass and renewable energy, ethanol and bioprocessing, food and agriculture, pulp and paper, power generation, carbon capture/decarbonization, carbon black, industrial sands, and emerging data-center energy infrastructure.

We want someone capable of turning this platform into significantly more opportunity.

What You’ll Own

The Director of EPC Business Development will be accountable for developing a sustainable pipeline of significant industrial EPC and construction opportunities.

You will:

  • Originate EPC, design-build, construction, and major industrial capital-project opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with owners, corporate engineering organizations, capital-project executives, operations leadership, plant management, developers, technology partners, and other key decision-makers.
  • Get IAC involved before an RFQ or RFP is issued, helping customers evaluate concepts, execution strategies, technologies, budgets, schedules, and project-delivery approaches.
  • Develop strategic accounts with an emphasis on long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Identify customer capital programs involving new facilities, expansions, modernization, environmental compliance, decarbonization, capacity increases, and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute capture strategies for major pursuits.
  • Lead commercial positioning, competitive strategy, and customer engagement throughout the pursuit lifecycle.
  • Work with executive leadership to make disciplined go/no-go decisions based on strategic fit, customer quality, competitive position, execution capability, risk, and potential return.
  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, procurement, fabrication, construction, safety, project management, controls, and commissioning resources during project development.
  • Lead and support proposals, presentations, interviews, commercial negotiations, and contract-development activities.
  • Build strategic relationships with engineering firms, technology providers, OEMs, developers, and other partners when they strengthen IAC’s position.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline, account, opportunity, and forecast reporting.
  • Remain engaged through award and handoff to ensure commitments made during pursuit translate effectively into execution.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for an established industrial EPC business-development professional—not simply someone with general sales experience.

The strongest candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in industrial EPC, design-build, HEAVY INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION, process engineering, or major capital projects.
  • A demonstrated record of personally originating, developing, and winning significant industrial projects.
  • Existing relationships within industrial owner/operator and capital-project communities.
  • The ability to identify projects and establish relationships before opportunities reach the competitive bid market.
  • Strong understanding of the complete EPC lifecycle and the commercial realities associated with major capital projects.
  • Experience developing complex multidisciplinary opportunities involving engineering, equipment, fabrication, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, construction, and commissioning.
  • Experience with greenfield facilities, brownfield expansions, environmental/process upgrades, or other complex industrial capital programs.
  • Strong commercial judgment involving contract strategy, project risk, competitive positioning, pricing strategy, and customer selection.
  • The technical credibility to communicate with engineers and project teams and the executive presence to build relationships with senior customer leadership.
  • Experience operating in OSHA/MSHA-regulated industrial environments and an understanding of the importance of environmental compliance, air permitting, safety, constructability, and execution planning.
  • The ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Experience involving advanced thermal/process technologies, industrial drying, calcination, pyrolysis, air pollution control, bulk material handling, pneumatic conveying, environmental systems, self-perform industrial construction, or accelerated shutdown/turnaround work is highly valued.

What Success Looks Like

Success isn’t measured by how many calls you make or how many RFPs you answer.

It’s measured by the opportunities you create and the profitable work you help IAC win.

We want this individual to build relationships before projects reach the market, gain visibility into customers’ capital plans, position IAC and Adelphi as trusted project-development partners, and turn those relationships into significant, repeatable EPC backlog.

The ultimate objective is to grow IAC and Adelphi’s position as a preferred partner for increasingly larger and more complex industrial capital projects—leveraging our ability to provide engineering, technology, equipment, fabrication, controls, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle support under one organization.

If you’ve built your career developing major industrial projects—not simply waiting for them to hit the street—we’d like to talk.

Work Location: This is a full-time, onsite position at IAC's Overland Park, Kansas office and is not a remote position.

Candidates must be able to collaborate onsite with IAC's Engineering and project teams. Occasional travel to industrial customer sites may be required.

Employment sponsorship is not currently available for this position.
