Employment Type: Part time Shift: Description: The surgical aide provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric surgical patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. Position Purpose: As a member of the surgical team, the surgical aide supports a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff. Responsibilities include implementing AORN Standards of Care and following Mercy Medical Center–North Iowa Operating Room Policies and Procedures. Duties include cleaning operating rooms, assisting with patient positioning and transportation, and maintaining inventory of supplies. Schedule: This is a PRN (as needed) position with flexible scheduling. Shifts may include: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Weekend and holiday availability may be required based on department needs. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (on-site training available if needed). Preferred Qualifications: One of the following is encouraged: Successful completion of a formal Nurse Aide training program (transcript or certificate required), OR Current enrollment in a Scrub Technologist program, OR Current enrollment in an ADN or BSN program with successful completion of the first semester (ADN) or first year (BSN), OR Graduate of an ADN, Diploma, BSN, or LPN program.
