Position Summary


The Senior Fire Suppression Technician & Future Operations Leader serves as Advanced Fire & Safety’s lead technical resource for Fire Suppression and Fire Extinguisher operations while developing the leadership skills necessary to support future growth within the organization.


This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing commercial kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, and AFS operating procedures.


In addition to technical responsibilities, this role is expected to mentor technicians, support training initiatives, contribute to operational improvement efforts, and prepare for future leadership opportunities within the Fire Protection Services division.


This position reports directly to the Owner until a Fire Protection Operations Manager position is established.

Key Responsibilities


Technical Leadership

• Perform inspections, testing, service, repair, and installation of fire suppression systems.

• Perform fire extinguisher inspections and service as needed.

• Troubleshoot technical issues and develop effective solutions.

• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and company procedures.


Documentation & Reporting

• Complete work orders accurately.

• Document deficiencies and recommendations.

• Maintain accurate SmartService records.

• Submit required reports on time.


Customer Service

• Communicate professionally with customers.

• Explain deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.

• Build long-term customer relationships.


Technician Development

• Assist with onboarding and training new technicians.

• Mentor developing technicians.

• Share technical knowledge and best practices.

• Support operational consistency across all service lines.


Leadership Development

• Lead by example.

• Promote accountability and safety.

• Participate in recruiting and interviewing activities when requested.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications


Required

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum 5 years of Fire Suppression experience

• Experience troubleshooting commercial kitchen fire suppression systems

• Strong customer service skills

• Valid driver’s license

• Insurable driving record

• Ability to pass background and drug screening

• Ability to travel throughout Nebraska and Iowa


Preferred

• Fire Extinguisher service experience

• UL 300 Certification

• NFPA 17A and NFPA 96 knowledge

• OSHA certifications

• Leadership, mentoring, or training experience

Working Conditions

• Full-Time

• Four-day work week

• Frequent travel throughout Iowa and Nebraska

• Commercial kitchens, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and customer facilities

• Regular climbing, lifting, kneeling, bending, and working at heights

• Company vehicle provided based on position requirements and company policy


Compensation

Hourly position.

Target hiring range: $28.00-$35.00 per hour depending on experience, certifications, leadership background, and demonstrated industry success.

Exceptional candidates may be considered above the posted range.

  • Additional compensation reviews occur according to company policy and performance review schedules.drawings. (There will be 3 wage reviews in the first 10 months of being on our team!)
  • Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and safety.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on-site in Columbus NE, including travel to client locations as needed (Daily).

Salary : $28 - $35
