Key Responsibilities 1. Facility & Business Operations
- Oversee total daily laboratory operations, managing the facility’s P&L, operational expenses, and productivity goals.
- Utilize lab management software to track daily case volumes, active invoice stages, and key performance metrics.
- Manage local logistics, ensuring intake of physical/digital impressions and outgoing deliveries meet strict turnaround deadlines.
- Maintain vendor relationships and control inventory costs on essential materials (zirconia, PMMA, resins, milling burs).
- Coordinate workflows between the digital design department (3Shape/exocad) and production teams (milling, 3D printing, ceramics, and finishing).
- Implement daily production schedules to prevent bottlenecks, balance staff workloads, and hit target delivery dates.
- Proactively troubleshoot equipment issues or software updates to minimize bench downtime.
- Recruit, train, and manage department supervisors, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Foster a collaborative, high-standard culture focused on precision, continuous learning, and pride in craftsmanship.
- Handle performance reviews, labor scheduling, and cross-training initiatives to build a flexible workforce.
- Act as the final line of defense for quality assurance, ensuring all restorations meet exact specifications before leaving the lab.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clinical clients, addressing technical case questions or complex prescriptions directly with doctors.
- Monitor and analyze remake rates, implementing swift corrective actions to fix any recurring technical errors.
- Experience: 5 years of operational management experience within a commercial dental laboratory, with at least 2 years in a General Manager or Lab Director capacity.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of full-service dental laboratory workflows, including fixed prosthodontics, implants, and digital workflows.
- Leadership Style: A visible, communicative leader who spends time on the lab floor, not just behind a desk.
- Problem-Solving: Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical quality with operational speed and financial efficiency.
