Job Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Use measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure product compliance with specifications.
- Utilize the CMM to perform inspection of products which cannot be performed with hand tools.
- Perform tests on products to assess functionality, durability, and safety.
- Document test results and report deviations to supervisors.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.
- Identify and address process inefficiencies or non-conformities.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and audits.
- Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to the QA Manager or relevant teams.
- Ensure products comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Assist in internal and external audits.
- Train production staff on quality standards and inspection methods.
- Provide support during product launches or process changes.
- Manage and facilitate calibration schedule for inspection tools.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools and testing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status (ITAR defines “U.S. Person” as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident)
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and work under an Federal Firearms Manufacturing License.
- Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Talk or hear, taste or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be willing and able to use all required personal protective equipment while working in the facility.
- Proficiency in programming and running a Zeiss automated CMM, measurement tools and testing equipment experience preferred (Training may be provided as part of professional development to the right candidate).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, experience considered in lieu of experience.
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification or other certifications in process improvement methodologies.
