Project Lead / Coach – Hazard Mitigation Planner
Work Schedule
- 40 Hours/Week
- Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No weekends
Role Overview
Under the guidance of the Plans Branch Manager, the Hazard Mitigation Planner will lead and support planning projects related to the State Hazard Mitigation Plan and Local & Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plans. This role requires strong written planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning projects related to state, local, and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plans
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Support annual updates to the State Hazard Mitigation Plan
- Develop and review written plans, SOPs, and planning documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal policies, directives, goals, and frameworks
- Collaborate with federal, state, local, county, Tribal, NGO, and private-sector partners
- Maintain strong organization and documentation standards
Required Skills & Experience
- 2 years of experience as a high-level planner
- Experience with government planning and written plans (SOPs, formal documentation)
- Strong organizational and written communication skills
- Ability to work onsite and attend in-person interviews
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Emergency Management (open to new graduates)
- Experience in Emergency Planning or Hazard Mitigation Planning
- Knowledge of federal emergency management policies and frameworks
- Professional communication and stakeholder coordination skills
