What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer - Product 1 position at i3 Assembly?
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Engineer, Product 1 is responsible for developing and maintaining the electronic work instructions and tooling utilized in the production of high-complexity cable and harness assemblies for both commercial and military applications. This role partners closely with Process Engineering and Manufacturing to establish accurate process routings for new products and supports cross-functional collaboration with Planning, Estimating, and New Product Introduction (NPI). The position also leads critical design and performance reviews and ensures final validation of all manufacturing documentation and processes.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to interpret and follow written instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing diagrams.
- Proficiency with computer applications and manufacturing-related software, including CAD tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures, with the ability to identify nonconformances and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on teamwork, communication and customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an Associate’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Technology with relevant work experience (preferred).
- Experience in cable assembly, PCB/A engineering, or related manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and follow direction effectively.
- Familiarity with statistical techniques for process control; experience applying these methods in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, tooling-related software and hardware used in manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, CAD tools to support engineering and documentation requirements.
