Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Medical Strategy Lead, the Senior Medical Writer plays a critical role in creating accurate, engaging, and scientifically rigorous content for a variety of medical communication projects. You will collaborate closely with client-facing teams, including medical directors, account executives, and project managers, to develop impactful scientific materials that effectively communicate complex medical information. The successful candidate will have a strong background in medical writing, a passion for research and learning, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to distill complex scientific concepts into clear and concise language.


Essential Duties

  • Develop high-quality medical content for a range of projects, including but not limited to scientific manuscripts, white papers, slide decks, abstracts, posters, medical education materials, and digital content
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews and gather relevant scientific information from reputable sources
  • Collaborate with other agency departments to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and scientific integrity of content
  • Translate scientific data into compelling narratives and educational materials suitable for various target

audiences, including KOLs, other healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical medical affairs, and regulatory authorities.

  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices, including current AMA style guidelines and compliance with ICJME recommendations
  • Participate in both internal and client-facing meetings to gather project requirements and provide scientific input
  • Review and edit content developed by other team members to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project objectives
  • Stay abreast of the latest medical and scientific advancements, therapeutic areas, and regulatory guidelines to ensure the highest level of scientific accuracy and innovation in content development
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Work Experience and Education:

  • Master's degree in a life science discipline or related field required. Doctoral Degree (PhD, MD, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in scientific writing within an academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical communications setting. Marketing/communications agency or similar setting is desired.
  • Demonstrated understanding of scientific research methodologies, clinical trial design, statistical analysis, along with regulatory guidelines and industry standards for medical communications (e.g., ICMJE, AMA, FDA).
  • Demonstrated experience adapting writing and research skill set to various therapeutic disciplines and an advanced grasp of medical terminology.
  • Experience using scientific literature databases and reference management tools (e.g., PubMed, EndNote) effectively.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), video conference applications (e.g. Zoom, Teams, etc.), and document formatting guidelines and tools; ability to quickly learn new programs.
  • Ability to travel for work as needed.
