The Warehouse Team Lead will oversee the warehouse floor operations, guiding a team of associates to receive, store, pick, pack, and ship instructional materials while maintaining safety, efficiency, and quality standards. This role ensures that our school customers receive their orders accurately and on schedule, especially during peak adoption seasons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, coach and schedule warehouse associates and forklift operators.
- Coordinate receiving incoming shipments, checking for accuracy, damage, and proper documentation.
- Oversee storage of materials: organize, label, rotate stock (first-in first-out where applicable).
- Lead picking, packing and shipping operations: ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and shipped on time.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with cycle counts and stock audits to maintain accuracy.
- Maintain warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) and ensure safe operation; enforce safety protocols.
- Develop and enforce warehouse SOPs (standard operating procedures) for accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
- Communicate closely with customer service, order processing and logistics teams to coordinate workflows.
- Identify process improvement opportunities (layout, picking methods, equipment) and implement changes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, lifting safety).
- Provide shift-reporting: key metrics (throughput, accuracy, damage rates, on-time shipments).
- Serve as escalation point on the warehouse floor for issues, staffing, quality or equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of progressive warehouse experience in a supervisory or lead role
- Experience in a high-volume warehouse environment; prior work with educational materials or publishing distribution is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations: receiving, put-away, picking/packing/dispatch, inventory control.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment (forklifts, Reach, pallet jacks) and safety procedures. Forklift certification preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed (especially during school adoption/seasonal peaks).
- Proficient with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory systems; basic computer skills (Excel, email).
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in logistics/supply-chain preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to, e.g., 50 lbs, stand/walk in warehouse environment frequently.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Standard schedule :daytime shift (e.g., Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) with occasional overtime during peak seasons.
- Warehouse environment: temperature may vary; must wear proper PPE as required.
- Fast-paced, physical environment: frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
