I-Tech Resources is seeking an experienced Fiber Termination Technician to support a multi-phase communications installation project. This role is critical in completing the Phase 3 expansion and requires strong hands-on experience with fiber termination, OTDR testing, and CAT6a structured cabling. Candidates must be highly skilled, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced installation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform extensive fiber termination, including polishing, splicing, connector installation, and troubleshooting.
- Complete bi-directional OTDR testing on all fiber strands before and after installation, ensuring proper documentation of results.
- Install CAT6a plenum cables using existing cable routes and pathways.
- Install new J-hooks for the final 15–20 feet of network runs.
- Terminate CAT6a cables to patch panels in the Communications Equipment Location (CEL) and RJ-45 jacks at remote locations.
- Accurately label all cable ends and patch panels according to project standards.
- Perform, document, and submit CAT6a cable test results electronically.
- Fire-seal new and reused penetrations to meet safety and compliance standards.
- Assist the site lead with materials handling, staging, and transportation of equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; follow all disposal and housekeeping guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Extensive hands-on fiber termination experience (required).
- Skilled in OTDR operation, fiber troubleshooting, and fiber testing procedures.
- Proven experience with structured cabling, including CAT6a installation and termination.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed installation instructions and cable routing plans.
- Strong labeling accuracy and documentation skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials/equipment as required.
- Must be able to pass a background check to access the USAFA site.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a fast-moving team.
