Shipping/Warehouse Associate

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Shipping & Warehouse Associate (SWA) will be responsible for a wide range of duties within the shipping department as well as the warehouse more broadly. The role will facilitate an array of both physical and computer-based components of the relevant departments while constantly looking for and taking advantage of cost saving opportunities. The SWA also ensures optimal use of all departmental resources (including time and human capital) in ensuring the expeditious and accurate receipt and processing of items delivered to the Company as well as those the Company delivers to its customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to)

• Wrap and package finished goods securely for transport
• Safely lift and move a variety of raw materials and/or finished company products to facilitate transportation to customer sites, both manually and with hand operated moving tools/equipment (including in and out of trucks)
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping
• Assist the Shipping Manager in the preparation of documents, the recording of data, and other shipping functions as needed
• Complete various other manual/maintenance activities around the shop including cleaning the shop, Company vehicle upkeep, building crates/boxes, etc.
• Enter pertinent data into Company cost accounting systems as needed
• Requisition and store shipping supplies to maintain adequate stock levels
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/Company Management

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (including, but not limited to)

• Proficiency with computers and the MS Office Suite including Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detailed, with strong time management and organizational skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Critical thinking/problem solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (including, but not limited to)

• The ability to safely lift heavy and/or cumbersome objects weighing 50 pounds
• Bending/stooping/kneeling, walking and climbing to package/load
• The ability to safely operate a forklift (certification provided as needed)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 years of relevant work experience
• Demonstrated successful experience working both autonomously and with others in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 years of experience in shipping/receiving role in manufacturing
• 1 years basic carpentry experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Some mild exposure to sawdust created in product fabrication
• Exposure to the sounds of a variety of shop machinery (saws, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
