SEL Instructional Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses a Bachelor’s of Science/Arts Degree in an Education Field.
- Possesses a valid Professional Educator License.
- Demonstrate positive, effective human relations abilities in working with clients of the Regional Office of Education.
- Has experience collaborating with student support staff to create effective programming for students and other staff members.
- Demonstrates a history of team building, leadership and cooperative skills.
- Has experience providing professional learning to adult learners.
- Possesses a valid Driver’s License.
- Can provide proof of automobile insurance.
- Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Regional Superintendent.
- Any of the above qualifications may be waived by the Regional Superintendent if and when necessary.
REPORTS TO: Regional Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools
SUPERVISES: None
JOB GOALS: The SEL Instructional Coach will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern in regard to social and emotional learning in the classroom. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality social and emotional learning is fostered in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- SEL coach will work directly with regional schools and oversee the REACH process including the development of action plans based on Trauma-Responsive Schools Implementation Assessment.
- Work in multiple classrooms, schools and districts within the two county region supporting the instructional development of any and all teachers involved in the coaching program.
- Attend State meetings hosted by REACH and ISBE.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators and other coaches and create a safe space for them to learn.
- Provide direction and coordination for how curriculum is taught and how classrooms are managed that is consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Create an articulated schedule with building administration and student support staff.
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student’s social and emotional learning improvement.
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve social and emotional learning initiatives.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools and information to support social and emotional learning in the classroom, including new resources.
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and classroom management and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
- Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility.
- Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.
- Work independently and efficiently following established guidelines.
- High proficiency in computer applications and operation of programs.
- Perform other related duties or assist with other projects as assigned.
- Perform in a manner to protect the confidentiality of information related to the Regional Office of Education and programs for which the position supports.
JOB DETAILS:
This will be a part-time position.
Salary : $40,900 - $51,700
