Audio Visual Service Technician

Position Overview

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, installing, troubleshooting, service, repair, and support to customers. Provide troubleshooting and the technical expertise required to keep AV programs and systems and multimedia systems operational.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, operate, and service audio visual related infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
  • Read and comprehend AV systems drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Troubleshoot various AV systems.
  • Provide phone support to clients and other technicians.
  • Create estimates and proposals for small AV jobs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance visits to help maintain a stable client-based system.
  • From the field, install control programs (AMX/Crestron/Firmware)- upload and download capability.
  • Provide end-user client training as needed.
  • Perform service tasks in a timely and quality conscious manner.
  • Interact with clients in a professional, customer service-oriented manner.
  • Travel to various job sites as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in commercial audio-visual system integration and maintenance in a service department environment.
  • Familiarity with major commercial AV equipment (Crestron, JBL, Shure, Extron, Biamp, Barco, etc.)
  • Prefer certifications from InfoComm (CTS,) and certifications from manufacturers such as AMX, Crestron, Extron, Cisco, Polycom, Biamp and/or others are a strong plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a required background check and preemployment drug screening.
  • OSHA 30 a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands/fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet tall, and be able to work in small spaces/uneven surfaces.
