Television and Media Production

Position Summary

I.C. Norcom High School is seeking an innovative, student-centered educator to lead its Television and Media Production program. The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in digital media and broadcasting while overseeing the school's multimedia productions, daily announcements, and student media team. This individual should possess strong technical expertise, creativity, and a passion for developing student leaders through authentic, real-world media experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Television and Media Production Teacher will:

Instruction

• Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the Virginia CTE Television and Media Production curriculum.
• Prepare students for careers and postsecondary opportunities in broadcasting, journalism, communications, and digital media.
• Teach video production, camera operation, audio production, lighting, editing, script writing, broadcasting, photography, and graphic design.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Integrate industry-standard technology and software into daily instruction.

School Media Production

• Oversee and produce the school's daily morning announcements.
• Supervise and train student anchors, camera operators, editors, and production staff.
• Produce high-quality promotional videos highlighting student achievement, academic programs, athletics, fine arts, and school events.
• Coordinate multimedia coverage of school events, including athletic competitions, performances, assemblies, graduation, awards programs, and special events.
• Assist with livestreaming school events as assigned.

Student Leadership

• Develop student leadership through hands-on production experiences.
• Foster professionalism, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Create opportunities for students to showcase their work through school and community projects.

Equipment Management

• Maintain and organize all television production equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, computers, and editing software.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and report repair or replacement needs promptly.

Collaboration

• Collaborate with school administration, faculty, athletic programs, student organizations, and community partners to support school communications and special events.
• Promote a positive image of I.C. Norcom High School through high-quality multimedia productions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Virginia teaching license with appropriate Career and Technical Education endorsement or eligibility for licensure.
• Experience in television production, broadcasting, journalism, multimedia production, or related fields.
• Experience using professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or similar platforms.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise students in both classroom and extracurricular production settings.
