Duties and responsibilities
- Support daily HR operations for both union and non-union employees across the organization.
- Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements (CBA), including handling questions, applying contract language, and supporting issue resolution.
- Manage employee relations matters, including coaching supervisors, conducting investigations, and supporting disciplinary processes.
- Lead recruiting and hiring efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, onboarding, and new employee orientation.
- Administer employee benefits programs and serve as a point of contact for employee questions (plan design and vendor selection handled at the corporate level).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Maintain and manage employee records and HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support payroll-related processes as needed, including coordination with internal or external payroll resources.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Foster a positive work environment by building relationships with employees and field leadership.
- Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS systems required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years of HR generalist experience; additional experience may be required for candidates considered at a higher level.
- Experience working in a union environment and administering collective bargaining agreements strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
