An Elementary Special Education Teacher at Interstate 35 Elementary provides specialized instruction and support to student with disabilities in grades K - 6. This role focuses on developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers and families, and fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for students. An Elementary Special Education Teacher is a collaborative member of the special education team, working closely with classroom teachers and colleagues to provide students with literacy, science, social studies, mathematics, and the greater school culture to the students we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations

Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities

Adapt curriculum, materials and instructional strategies to support student success

Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, related service providers, and administrators

Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and community to celebrate creativity and learning

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress reports, and compliance records

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs

Participate in IEP Meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities

Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student independence and confidence
