Summary

As an HVAC Technician, your role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing commercial and industrial HVAC systems throughout the facility, including Trane equipment and Johnson Controls building automation systems (BAS). You ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective repairs. Additionally, you support facility operations by maintaining accurate maintenance records, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and collaborating with production and facility teams to minimize downtime and maintain optimal environmental conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required
  • State-approved HVAC license preferred where applicable
  • 3~5 years of professional HVAC maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Experience maintaining HVAC systems in a manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or facility environment required
  • Experience with Trane HVAC equipment preferred
  • Experience with Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred
  • Valid driver's license required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • HVAC Systems: Comprehensive knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and associated control systems.
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS): Knowledge of Johnson Controls building automation systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and adjusting HVAC controls to maintain equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Commercial and Industrial Equipment: Experience with Trane rooftop units, air handling units, package units, exhaust systems, ventilation equipment, and related HVAC infrastructure.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Strong understanding of electrical components, motors, VFDs, relays, sensors, thermostats, actuators, control circuits, and mechanical HVAC equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve HVAC system failures, control issues, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Safety Standards: Familiarity with OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and industry safety practices to ensure compliance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate HVAC diagnostic tools, testing equipment, BAS software, and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for documentation and collaboration with facility personnel, contractors, and management.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and emergency repair requests.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work with engineers, production teams, and facility management.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with the latest industry technologies and safety standards.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Monitor and adjust HVAC operations, including Trane rooftop units, air handling units, ventilation systems, and related components/Johnson Controls units.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
  • Repair or replace HVAC components as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Support HVAC installations, upgrades, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Collaborate with facility, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests and equipment emergencies.

** May require on-call availability for emergencies or plant issues outside regular working hours

Work Environment

Work is performed in a variety of environments which may involve working near moving mechanical parts, equipment, or machinery on rough or uneven surfaces, and exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, odors, gas, oils, fumes, extreme temperatures, or heights. May occasionally be exposed to inclement or hazardous conditions including but not limited to inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises and travel; requiring moderate physical activities.

Pay: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour
