Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)'s Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking an Emissions and OBD Compliance Manager for our team at the Chino facility in California. HATCI's Emissions and OBD Compliance Team helps support Hyundai and Kia vehicles in meeting the challenging environmental and emissions standards at the federal and state levels, through certification and in-use testing. The Emissions and OBD Compliance manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Compliance Engineers at the Chino facility, managing investigations into potential compliance issues, ensuring on-time submission for mandatory regulatory compliance reports, and communicating timely status updates to the Regulation and Certification Department leadership.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Emissions and OBD Compliance team members located in HATCI's Chino facility
- Supervise mandatory compliance reporting processes and review/approve material for submission
- Lead/support internal emissions and OBD compliance investigations
- Manage test budgets and evaluation vehicle administration
- Review remedial action documents prepared to address in-use compliance issues
- Communicate with product development to drive external investigations to resolution for any issues identified in compliance testing
- Interface with regulatory agency representatives to provide updates on compliance activities
- Conduct regular alignment meetings with all stakeholders, including senior management, to ensure compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study, or Master's Degree in Business Administration
Related Industry Experience Requirements:
- 10 years of engineering experience
- 5 years of emissions and/or OBD development or compliance experience
- Preferred: 2 years of managerial or project management experience
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge of emissions certification and/or compliance processes
- Experience with vehicle emission testing (40 CFR *1066) and environmental regulations (40 CFR *85 and *86)
- Basic understanding of vehicle OBD system and regulations (13 CCR *1968.2 and/or *1971.1)
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in planning, executing, and closing projects
- Flexibility in handling multiple projects concurrently
- Preferred automotive regulatory agency experience
